Coffee

Published on April 4th, 2011

The empty cup with coffee stains
alludes to jittering within my brain.
Overnight travel with windows down
car speakers blasting punk rock sounds,
which angers homeowners as I pass
for the short time sounds' duration lasts.
Hopefully, sleep will not soon arrive
Least not until I'm safe inside.
Determined to stop no more this late.
I must give in, accept my fate.
More coffee stains may be required
to fight the night for which I'm tired.
