Book Announcement: Save Your Startup
Forget good to great. Most startups struggle to avoid going from drowning to dead. Having led multiple turnarounds in my career, I decided to write a book to help other startup founders do the same.
The 1-minute version of the announcement.
My new book (Save Your Startup) launched.
I consider it a must-read for 1st or 2nd-time startup founders.
The first 25 people to send me their Amazon order receipt will also get a signed, hardcover copy shipped to them for free.
Today, a year ago, I kicked off this book project with mentor and renowned ghostwriter Joshua Lisec. It was a tremendous opportunity to have a co-pilot who has successfully written and launched multiple books that appeared on the NY Times Best Seller List. While being on that list wasn’t my goal, I do aspire to make an impact on the lives of the countless startup founders out there—the ones floundering while trying to save their startups.
This book represents the culmination of 16 years of experience leading 5 startups and being an All-star mentor for multiple Techstars Accelerators. I’ve experienced remarkable turnarounds and crushing defeats (both of which taught me valuable lessons). Thankfully, the painful lessons were not in vain! I’ve been able to impart this wisdom to other founders, who learned from my mistakes and avoided similar outcomes.
Ultimately, what motivated me to write this book was being asked questions. I get so much joy out of mentoring other founders, but I lack the time to take on more than 1-2 at any moment. So, I wanted to create a book that contained everything I would share with anyone starting their journey. I have met that goal.
Why This Book Needs to Exist
Most business books focus on transforming people, teams, and organizations from good to great. There is nothing wrong with this. However, 90% of all startups fail. Knowing how to detect and correct these situations is vital in improving the odds of a successful outcome.
And this book isn’t written by a rando author reading a Wikipedia page of someone else’s experience before regurgitating it back to you. This book is full of personal stories of overcoming many difficult situations. My team and I often narrowly escaped a deadly crash before sailing off to a successful outcome. There’s nothing quite like snatching victory from the jaws of defeat (especially going from hemorrhaging cash to blasting through to cashflow positive)!
Finally, most books on this subject give generic advice without specifying the context of when, why, and how you should apply it. In contrast, I will provide detailed playbooks and note the context around when it’s most appropriate. After all, the right advice applied at the wrong time won’t work.
A Gift For First 25 Buyers
If you decide to buy this book (Amazon link here), I hope you take notes in the margins and underline anything you plan to apply. It is, after all, not meant to be theoretical. I hope you apply as much as possible!
However, I would like you to have a clean copy to put on your bookshelf.
To that end, the first 25 people to buy the paperback or Kindle version on Amazon will get a free hardcover copy. I’ll cover the shipping costs (as long as they’re reasonable, especially for international addresses!). Just send an email with a screenshot of the receipt to saveyourstartup@gmail.com.
And if you’d like to go further, farther, and faster, I’ll provide a final offer. As long as you’ve read 1/2 of the book and attempted to apply it yourself, I’ll be happy to schedule a free, 30-minute call to address any questions you have about your situation.
I’m psyched to (finally) get this out in the world!
