Celebrating Consistency: Roger Dickerman
As the world's most successful YouTube creator, Mr. Beast is asked for the magic formula for people just getting started. He responds with a simple formula that's hard to follow: Make 100 videos, and focus on making one thing better each time.
Guess how many people follow this advice. I bet it's less than 1 in 100.
Wooden Allen famously said, "90% of success is just showing up."
This advice sounds trivial, but most people can't commit to showing up day in and day out. What about when you're sick? On holidays? Unmotivated? There are always reasons to stop.
And then there are the exceptions. Roger Dickerman, one of my favorite people in the NFT art space, is one of my favorite examples.
He recently completed 365 days of 24 Hours of Art, a daily report and art release representing the highlights of the previous 24 hours.
This was no easy undertaking. It required no days off, and he sometimes had to pull heroics off to fit in with a busy travel and conference schedule. Nevertheless, he shipped each and every day. Bonus: he launched a community and was always active in it, routinely waking up at 3-4 AM some mornings with a gm and positive energy.
We need more Rogers in the world—people with a clear mission and a willingness to show up every day to make it a reality.
Here's to you, Roger. Best of luck on year two of 24 HOA!
