What I'm Reading: Brian Cain Series
These days, it's rare for a book to keep my attention from beginning to end. However, the Brian Cain series on Mental Performance is a page-turner.
I miss the days of college Track and Field (both as an athlete during my undergraduate years and as a coach during my graduate years). Coach Taylor was an absolute beast. He pushed my teammates and me to improve on and off the track.
I didn't realize how much I missed the camaraderie of that experience until I picked up the Mental Performance series by Brian Cain. It's a series of lessons told through a fictional story between the main character Matthew Simmons and a host of coaches he meets along his journey.
I've read a lot of personal development materials before. Still, the community connection struck such a deep chord with me this time. I forgot how much of my success in my college days came from pushing hard alongside so many equally determined team mates.
I've been craving community in my career lately, but I didn't know why. This set of books has inspired me to find a peer group of people looking to push to the next level of performance.
Your mileage may vary, but if this strikes a chord with you, I'd recommend checking out the first book in the series (Training an Elite Mindset).
